On Wednesday the 11th of March at 7pm, Britain’s first Kurdish Member of Parliament, Minister for Business and Industry Mr Nadhim Zahawi will host a reception on behalf of the Centre for Kurdish Progress in the Houses of Parliament to mark Kurdish New Year – Newroz.
Newroz is traditionally celebrated by Kurds as the beginning of spring and the start of a new year; the evening will bring together members of the Kurdish community from all parts of Kurdistan, who will be joined by supporters of the Kurdish cause from across the UK’s political spectrum.
The reception will also see the presentation of the Most Successful Kurds in Britain Awards for the Kurdish New Year 2020, highlighting the many wonderful contributions of the Kurdish community in the UK within the fields of business, art, academia, journalism and politics.
This a limited capacity event and a formal invitation is required for entry. Please register below if you would like to attend and if there is room available we will email you a formal invitation.
Please note – attendees will need to arrive at 6pm to ensure entry due to long queues outside Parliament.
