On Wednesday the 11th of March, Britain’s first Kurdish Member of Parliament, Minister for Business and Industry Mr Nadhim Zahawi hosted a reception on behalf of the Centre for Kurdish Progress in the Houses of Parliament to mark Kurdish New Year – Newroz.
Newroz is traditionally celebrated by Kurds as the beginning of spring and the start of a new year; the evening will bring together members of the Kurdish community from all parts of Kurdistan, who will be joined by supporters of the Kurdish cause from across the UK’s political spectrum.
