The Centre for Kurdish Progress will be hosting informative and constructive seminars on a monthly basis. This will help equip policymakers and researchers have a more substantial understanding of the complexity of regional dynamics.
This panel discussion will focus on the challenges facing the Kurdistan Region and the post-coronavirus path to recovery.
The Kurdistan Region faces several challenges, and needs a clear roadmap towards economic prosperity. Our panel of speakers will provide insight into the challenges facing the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the path towards rectifying grave errors made in previous cabinets.
We will be exploring various issues plaguing the Kurdistan Region: corruption, growing inequality, oil curse, agricultural stagnation, unemployment, weak health infrastructure and various other issues.
Speakers:
Dr. Bamo Nouri is a visiting lecturer and associate fellow at City University of London.
Diliman Abdulkader is the co-founder of the American Friends of Kurdistan (AFK), an advocacy group that promotes American-Kurdish relations.
Lawen Azad has an LLM in international law and a regular political commentator on Kurdish affairs.Â
Moderator
Mohammed A. Salih is a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication. He is primarily interested in extremist movements in the Middle East, and also the intersection of media, politics, and culture in that region. Prior to joining Annenberg, Salih worked for a number of years as a freelance journalist covering the Islamic State conflict as well as reporting on Kurdish and Iraqi affairs for international news outlets.Â
