Annual Parliamentary Newroz Reception Set to Illuminate Churchill Room at the House of Commons

We are thrilled to share the success of the Annual Parliamentary Newroz Reception, hosted by Nadhim Zahawi MP and Feryal Clark MP, held in the esteemed Churchill Room at the House of Commons on Monday, March 25th. This event marked a joyous celebration of unity and cultural splendour as we commemorated Newroz, the Kurdish New Year.

Set against the historical backdrop of the House of Commons, the Annual Parliamentary Newroz Reception symbolised unity. It brought together esteemed Members of Parliament, dignitaries, and influencers to honour the rich traditions of Kurdish culture. Co-organized with the Kurdish People’s Assembly in Britain, this gathering underscored Nadhim Zahawi MP and Feryal Clark MP’s unwavering commitment to fostering cultural understanding and strengthening ties within the parliamentary community.

Guests were treated to an immersive experience steeped in Kurdish heritage as the Churchill Room transformed into a vibrant hub of festivities and cultural exchange. From enchanting traditional music and dance performances to a tantalising array of culinary delights, every aspect of the event captivated the senses and ignited the spirit of celebration.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of this memorable evening. Special thanks to Nadhim Zahawi, MP, for his leadership and dedication in co-hosting this event. We also extend our sincerest thanks to Feryal Clark MP, not only for her co-hosting duties but also for her historic role as the first Kurdish woman MP in the UK Parliament. Her presence and impassioned speech added immeasurable depth to the evening’s proceedings, inspiring all in attendance. We also express our appreciation to the Kurdish People’s Assembly in Britain for their invaluable partnership and support.

Furthermore, we appreciate Ibrahim Dogus, the visionary founder of the Centre for Kurdish Progress. His dedication to advancing the interests of the Kurdish community has been a driving force behind the success of this event and countless other initiatives.

Our heartfelt gratitude extends to Paul Scully MP for his presence and contribution to the evening’s success. We also extend our appreciation to Ahmed Karamus, co-chair of the Kurdistan National Congress, for his valuable insights and support throughout the event. Chris Stephens MP’s attendance and engagement added significant depth to the evening, for which we are sincerely thankful. Lord John Mann’s presence and participation contributed greatly to the atmosphere of camaraderie and unity that permeated the event.

Lastly, we express our profound thanks to Deborah Fuller for her tireless efforts in organising and hosting the event. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication ensured that every aspect of the evening unfolded seamlessly, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
