Kurdistani Jews in Israel
Description
Jews inhabited the lands of Kurdistan for over two millennia since the eight century BC until the mid-twentieth century, when the tensions in the Middle East following the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 marked the end of this historical community. With an estimated population of 200,000 people, Kurdistani Jews in Israel constitute an often-neglected part of the Israeli cultural mosaic. This webinar will turn a retrospective gaze upon their lives in the lands between rivers Tigris and Euphrates, and a contemporary look upon how they maintain their Kurdish heritage in the Holy Land.
