In February and March, we hosted a series of Newroz events across the UK, where we came together with the Kurdish communities to celebrate and mark the most important event in the Kurdish calendar. Focused on the UK’s major cities, we joined together with leaders in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, London and Edinburgh to mark Newroz.
Hearing from the leader of the Scottish Labour Party, Anas Sarwar MSP, Ross Greer MSP and Michael Marra MSP, we marked the occasion in true Kurdish style, with dancing, traditional Kurdish food and lots of laughter.
We also took the opportunity to mark the recent Turkey/Syria earthquake, marking the tragedy with the Kurdish-Scottish community and showing solidarity with those affected.
We’re looking forward to being welcomed back in Scotland next year, as we mark Newroz 2024.
Newroz pîroz be!
